About Our Founders

Leo Labunsky, MD.

Co-Founder, WeCare
Semi-Retired Physician

Born in the Soviet Union into a family of doctors, Leo always wanted to be a physician himself.  With a strong early passion for physics and math, Leo dreamed of combining the logic that drives those disciplines with medicine and helping others.  After graduating from medical school in Ukraine, Leo helped thousands of patients through his work as an OBGYN and an OBGYN oncologist.

While leaving his home country was a difficult choice, Leo moved to the United States with his family in 1991 with the hopes that they would find greater opportunities for growth there.  Leo had to rebuild his career from the ground up, and over the next 22 years, he practiced as an ER physician and a family doctor, eventually starting his own successful family medicine practice in Sherman Oaks in 2000.  With his interest in the business side of medicine only having grown over the years, combined with a trend he saw in the industry of a rapidly swelling overhead, Leo realized that it was becoming increasingly difficult for doctors to financially sustain their own practices.  Leo and Ilan, who had been friends for years, started discussing how they could combine their talents and resources in order to solve this burgeoning problem in the medical field.  And so an idea was born – WeCare Medical Suites.  Doctors would finally have a place where they could spend 100% of their time providing patient care without ever having to worry about their overhead.  Leo spends his spare time consulting for the health industry in Ukraine – the place where his medical career started.  He is also actively working to develop innovative artificial intelligence technology in medicine.  Leo resides in Encino with his wife, a Registered Nurse.  They have a daughter, who is an attorney, as well as a goldendoodle named Charlie.
